Thanksgiving Moments

Sharing a few precious moments of my Thanksgiving holiday

Sweet gifts from my dear friend Suzanne... thanks Suzanne for honoring me with your precious
handmade pumpkins and the castle button along with its history...they are perfect gifts for me.
I adore them and YOU!

I've been missing my dear friend and sister - today we spent a few hours together...
miss you & love you Dee!

As many of you know, Belle joined our family in July which made this her first Thanksgiving with us.  We've been working on her "social manners".   She had perfect manners on Thanksgiving and was welcomed by our side all day.

Belle did something so amazing, I wished I had a picture to share with this story, but I do not.  We gathered hand-in-hand, in a circle to share our Thanksgiving meal prayer.  Belle chose to stand by my sister during prayer.  I was saying prayers and heard others snickering, I could tell Miss Belle was doing something, but I kept my head bowed and finished the prayer.  It was then I learned Belle sit between my sister and her husband, reached up with both her front paws, placing a paw on each of their hands, holding their hands in our circle until the prayer was over.  Priceless!

I've tried to upload the video of Belle enjoying her first Thanksgiving meal with us, but Blogger seems to having a loading problem with it.

Kansas City's West Bottoms Vintage Shopping

Last Saturday Julie and I spent the day shopping at Kansas City's West Bottom Vintage shops.
On our drive there we hit a fantastic garage sale just a few blocks from my home and managed to fill up the car.
No surprise I fell in love with two chairs soon after arriving at the West Bottoms, but my car was already full.  So, we shopped the north-side shops, went home, had lunch, let Belle enjoy some time outside in the backyard, emptied my car and headed back to pick up those two chairs I fell in love with... I'll post those chairs another day.

Of course we spent the rest of the afternoon shopping the south-side shops.
All the shops were decked out for the upcoming Holidays -maybe not as much as last year, but they definitely had some wonderful displays.

I believe on the 4th floor of Bottoms Up is a booth offering incredible vintage doors

It was a beautiful and fun day with my gal pal Julie!

Beth's Journal Quilt Link

Here is an excerpt from my recent post  Craft Day with Friends
regarding Beth and her Journal Quilt
"Beth working on her own project of 'pinnies'.  I love her work, always beautiful!

Darn, I totally overlooked snapping a photo of another textile piece Beth brought with her.  She is combining swatches of vintage textiles together with stitchery/embroidery.  She had us each sign this piece and date it.  I can hardly wait to see its finale!

I signed my name & date and wrote Blessings and Joy... just what this day of friendship brought us."

This textile piece of combining swatches of vintage textiles with stitchery/embroidery, Beth has so aptly called her Journal Quilt.  Please click here to view more about Beth's beautiful Journal Quilt.

Good Pickin' Day

Last Friday was a great pickin' day... I spent it with my longtime friend Kim.  We headed South to shop various stores in Belton, Greenwood and Lee's Summit, MO.

My friends know by now that if they are hanging out with me, I will be snapping photos.
Here are a couple photos of Kim shopping at Stacks Depot in Belton, MO.  They were in the midst of Christmas decorating for their Holiday Open House that begins tonight.  Beautiful, but I didn't not take any of those photos as they were working on it.

I adore Kim's sweater wrap & scarf!
(covet fits better than adore...smile)

We made lunch reservations at the Country Keepsakes Tearoom in Greenwood, MO
Fabulous quiche, soup and desserts!!

My pickin' finds from the day

Tomorrow I'll be at the West Bottoms shops in Kansas City.  Will I see you there?
