Today I Woke Up Retired

(the photo from my work badge)

Today I woke up retired...
semi-retired that is...
Yesterday was the final day of my 27 years in the healthcare industry.

I started in 1979 working in Accounting and Patient Services at the wonderful downtown St. Mary’s Hospital of Kansas City.  Followed by several years as a health insurance educator to hospitals, employers and labor unions as well as being part of the work force that brought the first Preferred Provider Organization to Kansas City.  After becoming a mother, I stayed home for several years to raise our two sons.  I returned to healthcare in 2001, spending the last 14 years with HCA.

It was a bittersweet decision for me to leave corporate healthcare after so many years, but felt it was time to move on to new beginnings.

I am blessed to have this choice!

I want to continue working, but working in positions that are creative and filled with joy.

Soon I will start two new positions...working at a local consignment home decor store merchandising home furnishings vignettes (and Sales) as well as working more with someone that his very special to me that has Down's Syndrome.

I do believe both cover being creative and filled with joy!

Thank you to my family & friends, each of you, for your kind words, thoughts, prayers and gifts you have shared with me for my retirement!

I am blessed!

Friends, Crafting...Blessed

When FRIENDS gather to spend hours of crafting, good food, stories and laughter...it is a good day!

We each worked on our own projects...Altered Matchboxes, bracelet making, Canvas art, Christmas tree skirt, crocheting, repurposing Victorian Trading Company 'backroom' items and
shaving cream-painted art paper.

As I often do, I forgot to snap photos.  Here are the few available photos

Lee's repurposed Victorian Trading Company's 'backroom' (damaged) item - is now renewed in chalk paint highlights, pearl & metal trims, buttons, a sweet bird's nest where the broken clock once sat and the broken bird's tail now filled with pretty flowers.

Just a sneak peep of my Altered Matchbox.  I'll show more once it arrives to its new home.

Thank you my SWEET FRIENDS for your lovely hostess gifts

(What should I create?)

Inspiring arts & crafts, beautiful gifts and dear friendships...I am BLESSED!
