West Bottoms Shopping Treasures

Here are my beauties that I found on Friday while shopping at the
Kansas City West Bottoms First Weekend sales

This wonderful chippy white wicker tray w/handle was purchased at sweet Sarah's booth My So Called Junky Life, now located inside Restoration Emporium.
The creamy doilies I also purchased from her.

The pink crocheted trim, earrings and pins were purchased at
vendors inside Nook and Cranny.

The adorable stack of vintage Walt Disney playing cards and those AMAZING bobbin-lace (I think) squares in their original packaging were purchased at Urban Mining.  UM is not in the West Bottoms district, but is also a First Weekend store.

Another package of AMAZING trim from Urban Mining.

My favorite find of all is this framed print of Pharaoh's Horses!
I passed up a larger version of this about eight years ago and have been sorry every since.  I found this beauty at Hickory Dickory.

I plan to repaint the wooden frame a creamy color.  It will go better with my style and enhance the trim of the frame.

Enjoy today, Tami

My new favorite store... FABRIC RECYCLES

This past Friday while on my way to the grocery store, I made a pit stop.... do you ever do that?

I decided before getting groceries I would stop by an estate sale listed in a vacant store.  As I was looking at the vacant store front, I noticed the store next to it had a store sign FABRIC RECYCLES

Fabric Recycles has been opened since October 2010, but it was the first time I had noticed it.  Glad I took off my blinders!

I spent three incredible hours shopping.  Oh, did I have fun!! I also enjoyed chatting with Fabric Recycles owner Page Burns, and assistant Jeanette Knittel of Prairie Diva Designs

Fabric Recycles offers new and vintage textiles and related items.  The items can be bits and pieces of beads, buttons, lace, material, patterns, quilting, ribbons, sewing machines, trim, etc.

Prices are amazing - there's even a bin of lace, trim & ribbon for .10 cents per yard!

I brought home 5 bags full of goodies and spent far less than I ever would at an estate sale or flea market.

I've tidied up all the pieces into nice bundles to help me organize them.  Here are the goodies that found a new home with me...
Fills up a full size bed

Yes that roll is 18 ounces of wool!
See the pile on the right of dyed scraps of wool

Treasure... two vintage silk fringed ribbons!  Too bad I'm not a better photographer as this photo does not show their real beauty

Gorgeous Victorian black glass bead work- Yum!

Fabric Recycles is located in Overland Park, KS (Kansas City Metro area).

While these wonderful items make my heart smile just looking at them, I really do need to get creative and not just hoard them... do you know that feeling??

Ooh lala... estate sale goodies

Every once in awhile you stumbled upon a GREAT estate sale.  Thankfully that is just what I did.  Last week I stumbled upon an incredible estate sale.  It was late afternoon when I arrived, so one would think all the good stuff would be gone.  To my delightful surprise it was worth the stop...

Sweet vintage purses, millinery flowers & lace

Lace, tatting, crocheting, lace edges from old table clothes and pillow cases and ribbon.... Eye candy!

Lovely table toppers & pillow cases

More lace, ribbon, two beautifully beaded dress trims, and way in the back barely showing is vintage wallpaper

More lace!
Yummy hats and a stack of 6 vintage silk curtain panels trimmed in lace

Sparkles

Now that's a great sale... what do you think?
