Valentine Beauties!

Here are the ever so lovely Valentine Beauties I received from swaps hosted by Vintage Dragonfly

My darling, iconic Valentine's Day snippet roll from Karla Jackson

Don't you love Karla's idea using a key ornament as the base of
her snippet roll?

Hearts, flowers, lace, cupid...LOVE!
Thank you Karla for my PRECIOUS snippet roll!

My 2nd Valentine's Day was my gorgeous matchbox swap from

It was filled with lots of beautiful treasures as well as some extra treasures too big to fit in it.

Thank you Tabitha for my BEAUTIFUL Valentine's Day matchbox and all its treasures!

Thanks again to JoAnne at Vintage Dragonfly for hosting such marvelous swaps!

2015 Valentine's Day Swaps

I'm always pleased and excited to participate in JoAnne's

This Valentine's Day, I joined her altered matchbox and
snippet roll swaps.

Here is my altered matchbox
Days before I began creating this matchbox, I found a set of four vintage red sequins heart at an estate sale...
I knew I wanted to use one on my matchbox.

The vintage Mother of Pearl heart trim piece was one of many that I scored at a local antique shop.  It's creamy sheen is lovely!

This end of the matchbox offers a lovely cherub.
Do you see her beautiful wings?

The other end is a vintage image of sweethearts kissing.

All sorts of Valentine's Day treats & goodies nestled inside waiting for delivery.

This precious bag was used as gift wrap for my matchbox.  It is made from vintage linens.  A vendor at a local vintage shop makes and sells these bags.  They are too good to pass up as she offers them at incredible prices and her handwork is wonderful!

So, that is my matchbox that was sent off recently to its
new owner.
My second swap was a snippet roll.  This was my first snippet roll.
I could be hooked on them!
I used an x-large wooden spool that once housed 2" muslin ribbon to wrap the snippet around.  I applied the same vintage Cupid image to both ends, added some glimmer spray and inks.

The unveiling from top to bottom, front to back

Mon amour... My love

Snippets of different ribbons, fabrics, laces, tulle, paper, photos, textile trims, beads, Mother of Pearl, Rhinestone & flowers were used in creating these snippets of love.

Again another sweet bag for gift wrap and off to it's new owner.

I received my snippet swap and I'm waiting for my matchbox swap to arrive.
I am eager to share them with you soon!

Halloween Altered Matchbox Swap

My second Halloween swap through JoAnne at Vintage Dragonfly was an altered matchbox swap.
I was partnered with Lorraine from Over the Rainebeau

Lorraine & I exchanged our Halloween preference of color & style.  We both prefer muted Autumn or black & white colors and nothing gory.  This swap was a perfect match for us!

On a side note...although I do not like gory things there is something about altered doll parts or jars of doll parts that I find weirdly fun or maybe I'm just weird.

This is the matchbox I created for Lorraine

and here is the ADORABLE matchbox she created for me

Filled to the brim with lots of fun Halloween goodies. I've already used several pieces on a recent Halloween art canvas.

Did you notice what Lorraine & I did without either one of us knowing about it?
We both chose to use a wooden frame on the front of our matchboxes and what is most remarkable, we both choose to use the same frame!
We were definitely on the same creative wave length...kindred spirits!

I LOVE my matchbox from Lorraine and all the treasures she tucked inside of it!  It is sitting front & center on a shelf in my studio saying Happy Halloween to everyone!  Thank you Lorraine!

Valentine's Day Altered Matchbox Swap - Part 2

Belle always enjoying barking at our mail carrier.  This morning I heard her low growl explode into her deep bark and I knew it must be our mail carrier - it was.
What an awful day for our mail carriers as it is negative degrees without wind chills.  I know it is their job to deliver the mail, but I would not do it on a day like today,
so a big THANK YOU to all our mail carriers!

Our recent weather has delayed the arrival of a much anticipated package...
my Valentine's Day Matchbox Swap from Lynn L.

Upon opening our mail box I found one item, a box just the perfect size for a matchbox swap.
I pulled out the box, turned it over and YES, it had Lynn's return address on it!

Wow, Wow, Wow!
Not only was there Lynn's matchbox, but two packets.

This packet enclosed a vintage button card - do you remember buttons 10¢?

And this packet held

a sweet Valentine ornament she made

 I immediately fell-in-LOVE with Lynn's altered matchbox

the front,

the roof, the sides

and the back are full of the sweetest details!

The trinkets inside were perfectly me

Lynn, Thank you for your matchbox swap to me - it is amazing and I LOVE it!

Thank you again JoAnne from Vintage Dragonfly for hosting this swap!

The perks of swapping are sharing creative art, trinkets and the best perk, making friends.

Hugs ~ Tami
