Friendship, Hearts & Crafting

Winter blahs...cure?
Spend a day with friends,
Crafting
Share a potluck lunch
Music (even danced a bit of the "Bump")
Laughter

Someone discovered they LOVE blood oranges!

Snack time doesn't get much better than chocolate dipped fruit!

Our day wasn't long enough...we had a soldering table set-up, but never got around to soldering mini glass boxes.  Instead we worked on creating heart textile collages and creating lace-covered hanger hearts.

Crafting was focused on hearts with Valentine's Day approaching
(Thanks Gail for the photo!)

None of us finished a project, so I don't have individual project photos to share.  Later that evening I finished my lace-covered wire heart.  It took me a couple of tries to decide where it should hang
against a wood wall?

hanging from a lamp post?

Those two choices were OK, but hanging from the chandy is HOME

My new craft addiction....creating various wire & lace/textile hearts!

Do you have the Winter blahs...spend time with family, friends and share something you love to do!

Evening Star Button Club Christmas - 2016

Christmas buttons along with mini bottle brush trees snuggled into vintage children button-up shoes
created the kitchen table centerpiece for our 2016 Evening Star Button Club Christmas party

Laughter, smiles and friendship as we exchanged our homemade button-related gifts

Here are the button card holders I created using vintage wooden thread spools,
lace trims and rhinestone buttons - along with tis the SEASON to be jolly La Mode button card

Venita hand-stitched adorable felt snowman ornaments!
Each snowman had a different button.  My snowman as shown in this photo sports
a wonderful dimi mirror back button on its hat.

Jennifer created fun, colorful, whimsical flower button pins!

Lee gussied up with lace, ribbon & beads a sweet glove button hook ornament!

Lori talked her insurance agent into donating several desktop 2016 calendars and then she button'fied' the calendar!
Along with her calendar, Lori also created these precious button snowman pins!

This is Pam's third series of mini altered matchbox ornaments with enclosed buttons.
Each series has been different and all are wonderful!

Lisa decorated slouchy hats with black glass buttons...styling!

Yep, styling...check it out!

From base to tree, Tara created these gorgeous snowy button trees!
(Perfect for my low-tone Christmas decorating)

Ruth Ann created these beautiful button paperweights!

We are a creative group of button collectors!

After sharing our potluck lunch and gifts, we moved downstairs to my studio where we
uniquely created our own button box
I placed a white moonglow button in each button box as a friendship button.

It is a joy to be part of this button club and call these woman FRIENDS!

Our Evening Star Button Club has slowly, but surely been working its way through studying
the National Button Society's Blue Book - the official NBS Classification & Competition Guidelines.

It has been a long journey of study, but well worth learning how to classify buttons
and how to care and preserve them.

Happy New Year and Happy Button Collecting!
