Our Christmas Home 2015

Merry Christmas to you!
My abundant storage closet had been pushed beyond its capacity
and I knew this Christmas I would have to purge.
Two weeks before Thanksgiving I started the dreaded purge.

Every year I unwrapped my stored decorations and I find myself lost in the memories of receiving them as gifts, creating them or finding them on shopping sprees.
This year was no different, I was flooded with fond memories as I went through my purge.

I stuck to my plan and managed to purge five large boxes, creating enough room to be better organized.  However, Christmas magic had different plans for me.  For as soon as my purge was over came an opportunity to purchase two 7.5' Christmas trees for nearly pennies.

This year I kept our decorations simple, leaving many decorations packed away.
The white tabletop tree formerly in our living room was replaced with a white flocked 7.5' tree,
now decorated with low-toned ornaments and handmade items.

Our 'traditional family' slim 7.5' tree in the our family room was replaced with vintage glass silver & teal beaded garlands,  ornaments and snowflakes.

Many of the 'traditional family' ornaments stayed in their storage box and only the family 'memory' ornaments and ornaments made by sons when they were little guys
were chosen to decorate a small tabletop tree in our family room.

The other new tree, a slim 7.5' one, is my favorite tree this year!  Although I have not been able to capture a photo that show its real beauty.

It is trimmed with white birds, vintage silver beaded garland, glass prisms garland, vintage silver & white glass ball ornaments and silver tinsel icicles.  When lite, the lights glisten off the ornaments and icicles and it glimmers almost like ribbons of moving water.

Here are some more peeks of our Christmas home

  4. It's really beautiful, Tami. I know what you mean about purging holiday -- I'm trying to do the same thing. I told our daughter-in-law that I don't want to be pushy and she doesn't have to take a thing but I'm bringing things down to her as they start their new life in their new home. I hope she takes it all! But like you, I want to continue to indulge my Christmas habit -- and you need room to do it.

Every detail in your Christmas home is beautiful. What a lovely spot to enjoy the season!
