Today I Woke Up Retired

(the photo from my work badge)

Today I woke up retired...
semi-retired that is...
Yesterday was the final day of my 27 years in the healthcare industry.

I started in 1979 working in Accounting and Patient Services at the wonderful downtown St. Mary’s Hospital of Kansas City.  Followed by several years as a health insurance educator to hospitals, employers and labor unions as well as being part of the work force that brought the first Preferred Provider Organization to Kansas City.  After becoming a mother, I stayed home for several years to raise our two sons.  I returned to healthcare in 2001, spending the last 14 years with HCA.

It was a bittersweet decision for me to leave corporate healthcare after so many years, but felt it was time to move on to new beginnings.

I am blessed to have this choice!

I want to continue working, but working in positions that are creative and filled with joy.

Soon I will start two new positions...working at a local consignment home decor store merchandising home furnishings vignettes (and Sales) as well as working more with someone that his very special to me that has Down's Syndrome.

I do believe both cover being creative and filled with joy!

Thank you to my family & friends, each of you, for your kind words, thoughts, prayers and gifts you have shared with me for my retirement!

I am blessed!

  2. Big, huge congratulation wishes, Tami. I have a feeling you will sink into retirement exactly as I've done, which is not being retiring but being so busy with joyful things that you find yourself smiling just in the moment of being! Many good wishes!
