Easter Memories

My fond childhood memories of Easter

Up early to check out our Easter baskets before racing outside to hunt the
Easter Bunny's hidden eggs.

Ready for church... although there were those Easters when we also wore white cotton gloves and Spring bonnets.

In the afternoon, extended family some 40 or 50 aunts, uncles, and cousins gathered at my Grandma Jennielee's home... cherished memories!  It was one of the few times during the year I saw my favorite cousin Cheryl.
Cheryl & I packed a lot of sweet memories into that one day.

Everyone feasted on holiday potluck dishes, the adults hid Easter eggs and the children enjoyed a massive Easter egg hunt.
Later the adults shared family stories and the cousins played.

As I grew older I added movies to some of my favorite memories-
The Ten Commandments, The Robe and Easter Parade.

"In your Easter bonnet, with all the frills upon it,
You'll be the grandest lady in the Easter parade."
Ok, did you just hum along as you read those lyrics?

Easter bonnets, should we revive them?

Our sons are now grown, there are no more Easter egg hunts, but their Easter baskets are full and waiting for them when they arrive later today to our Easter dinner.

A major project on my To Do List is to scan old photos into digital files like those of our sons childhood Easters.

Beyond my fond Easter memories, I cherish Christ promis

He is Risen indeed!

Easter Blessings to you

  2. I remember Easters with frocks, white gloves and pastel colored hats, too! I hope your Easter was just lovely!

  3. I like that last hat, and think it would be wonderful for hats to come back in style.
